Below are the draftsmen. that's
Johnny Walker in the center. Larry is making a blue print.
One of
the problems vern tackled in 1n 1979 was the storage of drawings. The
existing system was the hanging clamp as shown in lower left. It really
was cumbersome to pull the correct drawing out or get them clamped in
place to store them. The standard flat files were messy also. A new design came onto the market which made it possible to pick a single drawing out and not bother the other drawings in storage - the file is seen at left. |
It did not fit the budget for this firm so Vern made one at his home. It worked until the company closed in 1987. |

Another
challenge while working here was the new personal computer. A
North Star computer was purchased and Vern dove right in to learn
programing in basic. His son, Bryan, just got his Apple about the
same
time.
To help Vern, Bryan put an 8 inch drive computer together, placing it with a cabinet Vern built. They worked together well. |
