Great pics and info, Vern. Nice old pics of you and Letha and your kids, too.
We haven't been to the Grand Canyon in maybe 25 yrs. or so. We stayed in a hotel in the small town of Williams and then rode the Grand Canyon railway the next day from Williams to the canyon. On the way cowboys actually came out of the forest on horseback and climbed on the train as it was moving, with "guns" drawn as if it was a hold up on every one. When one came up to me and demanded my money, I told him, " I don't have any.. my wife has it all".He then offered me his gun and said " Here, do you want to get it back" with a smile. Hector
So I made this map

DESERT VIEW WATCH TOWER.
The Grand Canyon Railway (GCRX), is a heritage railroad which carries passengers between Williams, Arizona, and the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.   The 64-mile (103-kilometer) railroad, built by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, was completed on September 17, 1901.
Desert View Watchtower, also known as the Indian Watchtower at Desert View,
is a 70-foot high stone building located on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon within Grand Canyon
National Park in Arizona, United States.
You can see a parking lot in the back ground.
That's were I locked the keys in the car.
I found an old wire clothes hanger in the gravel
