One day, remembering all those jets parked at the airport, Letha and I drove over
there. I had heard the planes were used for SPARE PARTS.
Letha took a photo of me under a wing. I was told a rubber fuel tank was about to
removed from the wing. I did see it when I looked into an open hatch under the wing.
They were selling a used FUEL BLADDER.

On 7 May 1943 the facility was officially named the Kingman Army Air Field. The base continued to grow and change with many new squadrons were added to the base and some of the existing ones were combined. Soon 7,000 persons -- the first wave of what would eventually be 36,000 personnel trained here. GUNNERY SCOOL
