Getting wire to the house
This was the least expense, first cost, way to connect a rural house to 4 party open-wire distribution line.  Maintenance wise, it was less expensive to place a Fused Protector at the house and heavyer bridle wire at the pole.  When lightning hit and blew out the 20 gauge bridle wire, it was hard to determine that the wire was blown and the fuseless protector may still have broke down. It was always easier to just go to the protector and clean and/or replace what was broken, therefore less expensive.

This diagram was not the way we did it, it was the latter way.
Vern worked on these connections many times.
