the Daverman's were responsible for giving the area a modern dial system and they were remembered at the celebration of EAS to Toledo. |

......How many paths to Toledo? I suspect that in 1900 there were one or two "roads" to downtown Toledo from Whiteford Telephone area, and it took you three hours, round trip, and it cost you a bucket of oats to keep that horse going. In 1925 you might have made it in two hours in your "Model T" and for 50 cents and one flat tire. Today it is still tough by automobile and there are not many paths. ......In 1958 Whiteford Telephone Company subscribers could crank the operator and try to get through to Toledo on 6 paths (circuits). When we went to dial in 1959, you had 12 paths and no waiting. In 1969 you had 56 paths and you were making 40,000 calls a month. Now, with the cutover to "Extended Area Service", you will have 233 paths and we anticipate over 200,000 calls per month. ......Best of all! With no toll charges. That's progress . . . that's acceleration . . . that's a lot of talking and we want you to use it to make life happier and easier. ......Welcome
to your new service.
